2019 NBA Finals Game 4 Pick: Golden State Warriors vs Toronto Raptors
Golden State had a chance to pressure Toronto in Game 3. The Warriors were coming off of a Game 2 victory in Toronto, successfully stealing home-court advantage away from the Raptors. But Klay Thompson was sidelined with a mild hamstring strain, and Toronto capitalized.
The Raptors trailed only once in the entire contest: a one-point deficit early in the first quarter. From that point onwards, Toronto controlled the game, outscoring Golden State in every single quarter and winning 123-109. The win gave the Raptors a 2-1 series lead and gave them back home-court advantage.
Without Thompson available, the Warriors struggled to get much production out of anyone in Game 3. Anyone, that is, except for Stephen Curry. Curry caught fire in Game 3, finishing with a postseason career-best 47 points and adding eight rebounds and seven assists as well. Curry’s individual efforts were outmatched by the Raptors’ depth. Kawhi Leonard scored 30 points to lead Toronto, with six players scoring in double digits (Kyle Lowry’s 23 points were second to Leonard).
For Game 4, Golden State expects to get Thompson back in the lineup, which should help tremendously. Kevin Durant is also supposedly getting closer to a return, though that has been teased since the start of the Warriors’ series with Portland. Even if only Thompson makes it back into the lineup Friday night, having him should provide Golden State with a much-needed boost in energy and production.
Oddsmakers once again have the Warriors favored for Game 4. The spread, in fact, is the same as it was in Game 3, with Golden State favored by 5½ points (and a -110 payout on either side of the spread). On the moneyline, the Warriors come in at -235, with the Raptors posting at +190.
