Rome Slot Machine
Rome is a place that is full of history and a place many go to learn about an empire that ruled for many years. The fall of Rome has been the topic of many movies and television shows and has a worldwide fan base who loves everything Roman.
777igt wanted to jump on this wagon and did so by designing a game with roots in the ancient empire. In the game you see all the symbols from this time period that you'd expect to see. You get the chariot, gladiators, and treasure chests, along with a wonderfully designed background.
The game is a 5 reel slot with 50 pay lines which makes it a great game to play and win. The pay lines aren't fixed so you hold the control and can decide how many you want to play at any given time. The betting options are such that anyone who loves this time period can find a comfortable place playing the game.
The designers didn't leave out the special features either which just adds to the appeal of the game. Fans of 777igt games find all the regular extra chances to win big available in this game such as the three jackpots and free spins the designer is known for.
This game is well designed and provides a look back in time to an era that was fraught with violence but was surrounded in beauty.

Rome Slot Machines Overview
The background for this game resembles the famous Roman Parthenon that we've all seen in pictures and are familiar with what the Romans used it for. So it's fitting that the game would have these famous columns as its backdrop.
The columns are just as you'd expect them to look when they were first built. They're beautifully crafted and lend great authenticity to the game. The operation buttons and the jackpots are housed in rectangular boxes that have been made to resemble ancient scrolls.
These are combined with the reels that resemble stone slabs where the symbols lay. The reels don't have any extra design which is a little disappointing considering the great job that was done on the background however, with the downplaying of the reels it allows for the symbols to really stand out which is nice.
The title for the game is displayed at the top of the reels between the jackpot holders and is done in a beautiful red that adds color to the game.
One thing about this game that sets it apart from most of the 777igt games out today is that it doesn't have any background music at all. For us this isn't a problem because we like to just play the game and don't usually find the music fitting but for some this might be a problem. Without the music the only sounds associated with the game is the spinning of the reels, which is nothing special.
When you get a win you hear the regular chiming sounds that you find in most other games. This area was completely overlooked by the designers and even though we don't usually have much good to say about the games music this one not having a soundtrack kind of kills the excitement that a good soundtrack can provide.
Rome has animations that can be seen at different intervals in the game. Of course you have the small animations that are attached to the symbols themselves. These animations are seen only when a symbol is included in a win.
The symbols don't have eye catching animations but some spin rapidly while others pulse to let you know they're a part of a win. When you trigger a special feature an announcement is flashed across the screen in big gold letters telling you which one you triggered.
These features can vary between free spins, scatters, and if you're really lucky a jackpot win. When you trigger the bonus game that's where you see the most animation.
The bonus game is similar to others we've seen by this designer and though it's where the most animations are concentrated it's still a minimal amount compared to other games.
Rome Pay Table and Graphics
Symbols and payouts for Rome are as follows:
This symbol is a beautiful picture of the well-known temple of the Greek goddess Athena holds the highest pay out option in the game. This symbol triggers the MEGA jackpot when and only when you receive a total of 5 on the reels at the same time.
This symbol of war is the symbol that triggers the Minor jackpot win. When you get 5 of these symbols anywhere on the reels at the same time you win the second largest jackpot.
The coat of arms is the symbol for the smallest of the three jackpots. When you get 5 of these on the reels you trigger the mini jackpot.
This intricately designed black and gold vase was used to carry water in ancient roman times. In this game it represents as the wild symbol. This symbol can replace any symbol on the reels to complete a win except for the scatter, free spin, bonus, or jackpot symbols. If you see this symbol on the reels 5 times you get a multiplier added to your win in the amount of 150 times.
This man represents the many warriors of this time period. He serves as the scatter symbol and provides you with multipliers based on the number of times he shows up on the reels. He pays 5 times for a combination of 3, 30 times for a combination of 4, and 100 times for a combination of 5.
This symbol triggers the free spins feature of the game. You are awarded free spins based on the number of times it shows up on the reels. You receive 5 spins for a combination of 3, 10 spins for a combination of 4, and 15 spins for a combination of 5.
This chest brings you a chance to add to your winnings. When you get three or more of this symbol anywhere on the reels you trigger the bonus game.
This symbol pays 12 times for a combination of 3, 40 times for a combination of 4, and 200 times for a combination of 5.
This symbol pays 12 times for a combination of 3, 40 times for a combination of 4, and 150 times for a combination of 5.
This symbol pays 12 times for a combination of 3, 30 times for a combination of 4, and 120 times for a combination of 5.

The J stands for the jack in poker. It pays 10 times for a combination of 3, 20 times for a combination of 4, and 50 times for a combination of 5.
The 10 stands for the 10 in poker. It pays 10 times for a combination of 3, 20 times for a combination of 4, and 50 times for a combination of 5.
Most of the symbols for this game seem to be authentic images that were placed in the game. We found this to be a great choice as it adds authenticity to the game and draws in those history buffs that love old artifacts.
With the use of the images instead of drawings it added to the game and also reduced the guessing as to what a symbol stood for in both the game and Roman history. Most games now days have a combination of theme related symbols combined with poker symbols to complete the game.
This game is no different; however this is where we found our one complaint with the symbols. The symbol that is used to represent the Q in the poker symbols is not what we expected. We did some research to see if they used a Roman character instead of a modern Q but this wasn't the case.
We kept looking and the only thing we could find that resembled the symbol used was one that represented Neptune and we really don't understand this. The more we looked at the symbol we could see that it does kind of look like a Q that wasn't completely closed but we think this was a poor choice considering the other poker symbols are clear as to what they stand for.
Rome Slot Extra Feature
777igt never lets us down when it comes to special features and they didn't forget anything on this game. All the regular players are here and give us reason to continue to play Rome every chance we get.
The jackpots come in three different sizes.
Most games only have one jackpot for you to try to win but 777igt likes to change things up so they added two more so you get a total of three chances to win big.
- Mega jackpot
Is the largest of the three available jackpots. It is unlikely that you ever get a real chance at winning this pay out but it gives us reason to keep playing in hopes we get lucky enough sometime. This jackpot is triggered only when you get 5 of the Parthenon symbols on the reels at the same time.
- Minor jackpot
This jackpot is the middle jackpot that can be a great win if luck is on your side. You must get 5 of the Roman Shield and Spears symbol to trigger this win.
- Mini jackpot
Although this may be the smallest jackpot win available you can't argue with a starting dollar amount of 30,000 that just keeps growing as you play. Get 5 of the coat of arms symbols to trigger this jackpot win.
In this game the wild doesn't really live up to those that are found in other games. For some reason 777igt has deemed the wild the lowest of the special features which limits it effect on the game. It does still sub for all of the regular symbols on the reels but it can't replace any of the special features symbols which kind of sucks but we take what we can get. One good thing about this symbol is if you get 5 on the reels you get an extra multiplier in the amount of 150.
This game offers another chance for you to win multipliers and that comes with the scatter symbol. One of the most recognizable figures from roman times is the gladiator and 777igt designers didn't want to leave them out. For this game they gave the gladiator the opportunity to multiply your wins when it appears on the reels three or more times.
A slot game just wouldn't be the same without winning free spins. When you get three or more of the statue symbols on the reels you're awarded a certain number of spins. These spins start automatically after the announcement flashes across the screen. During these free spins you can rack up a lot of wins that you don't have to pay for. This is the best thing about the free spin feature.
When you're playing this game keep an eye out for the treasure chest. This symbol triggers a trip to the bonus game where you get a chance to win multiple times and at totals that are far higher than those found in the regular game.
When you get three or more of the treasure chests you're taken to a new screen that's laid out like a map of different symbols. You see the silver helmet, silver bowl, and the treasure chest that represent stopping points for the chariot.
You get two chances to build up your wins by spinning the wheel. After you spin the wheel your chariot takes off along the mapped out course and stops based on the number you landed on when you spun the wheel.
When you've completed both spins your total win is displayed across the screen before you're transported back to the regular game.
Some of the games we've played in the past we've found it's hard to actually trigger the special features but the best thing about 777igt games is this really isn't the case. Some games trigger the free spins and scatter symbols more but others like this one we found the bonus triggers more than the others. For example, when we first started playing this game for this review our first spin triggered the bonus game. We were pleasantly surprised when in about eight more spins it was triggered again.
All of the games we've played designed by 777igt have had unfixed pay lines. This may be just what you're looking for but we don't think this is always the best way to set up the pay lines. Yes it gives the player more flexibility and control but does it really help when it comes to win chances?
The answer is no; the more lines you play the better off you are. When you start messing with the number of lines being played is when you start missing out on wins. As long as you play all the lines available you won't miss out on anything.
Rome has a total of 50 pay lines available. If you decide to change the number of lines being played be advised the minimum number of lines that can be played is 10 with the max being set at 50. So if you decide to play the 10 you could be missing out on wins on 40 other pay lines. You don't want to miss out on that much money and neither do we.
The range for your wager is set between .01 to $1.20 per spin. This makes the game great for all who want to give it a try.
Rome game rules are in line with most other 5 reel slot machines. Below are the main rules:
- Wins are formed and paid from left to right on the reels
- If one pay line has two or more wins the highest win is paid out
- Any misuse or malfunction aborts the game and everything is reset to default.
- Wilds don't sub for jackpot, scatter, or bonus symbol.
- The scatter symbol triggers additional multipliers based on number of symbols on the reels
- Bonus game is triggered when three or more bonus symbols appear anywhere on the reels
- The wild symbol has a payout when you get 5 symbols on the reels at the same time.
- Jackpots can only be won when the designated symbol is found on the reels 5 times.
From the beginning of our time playing this game we really enjoyed the entire experience. This game has such an authentic feel and design that it just makes the game that much more fun to play.
We really enjoyed the fact that they used images to represent the roman symbols instead of making them look cartoonish like you see in so many other games that use this theme. Another thing we really like about the game is the bonus game.
The bonus game isn't the best of the best for 777igt but we think the ability to rack up wins is a great way to keep people coming back. So the fact that you can't lose in the bonus game and that you get two chances to win big bucks makes this our favorite part of the game.
This game didn't have much for us to find issue with but the two things we did think could be changed was the lack of music associated with the game and the symbol that was chosen to represent the Q in the poker symbols.
Neither of these two are big issues nor should they keep you from giving Rome a try. We know you'll enjoy this game.
